Understanding the importance of representation, this series will expose students to professional women from diverse career backgrounds on a monthly basis. The goal is for students to become driven by their curiosity and empowered to explore all the possibilities available to them."
Jaime Moody, an American diplomat currently posted to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, spoke with Sacred Heart 4th grade students about careers in diplomacy and opportunities for women. Opening up with an introduction in Farsi, a language spoken by the people of Iran, Ms. Moody discussed the wide range of roles in the State Department - from Ambassadors to diplomatic security agents to construction engineers - making clear to the students that these are opportunities that are available to them.
Members of the Riveters Robotics team visited the Fourth Primary students in the Tech Cafe as part of our “This GIrl…” series. Middle school students discussed the fundamentals of building and coding robots, how they train and compete with other schools, and how important teamwork is to their success. They brought a Mindstorm robot for an interactive demonstration, much to the excitement and enthusiasm of fourth primary students. The Riveters were pleased to see the level of interest from fourth primary students and were eager to answer questions and share their expertise.
Kay Higginbotham began her career as a music teacher. Teaching at her Alma Mater was a dream and she taught music for 24 years. Having engaged in many leadership opportunities, she then received her Master's in Educational Leadership and became the Principal for the Preschool and Lower Schools for 15 years. Recognizing the strengths of organization, protocols and leadership, her Head of School offered her an opportunity to develop a new position as Director of Operations and one year later the first female Director of Facilities.
Rachelle Albright is owner of Albright Management Strategies, LLC. She was previously Chief Executive Officer of F. H. Myers Construction Corp. and held various leadership positions with the firm during her 21-year tenure. Her areas of expertise are operations, project management, scheduling and estimating.
