QRMT

Spring 2022

This is a documentation of some of the highlights of the course Quantitative Reasoning and Mathematical Thinking (QRMT).

We read a popular book "Elliptic Tales" and studied some of the mathematics that was needed to get a sense of the topic of the book. In addition, we learnt how to use Sage - a symbolic algebra package - to help with the calculations that form a bulk of mathematics at the high school level. This freed us up to focus on the ideas. Select "About the course" for more information about the curriculum.

In addition, students were placed in groups and assigned a reading project. This required a presentation and a book review. We present some of the material created by the students for their group presentations.

Select the book from the drop down menu to get more information on some of what the students created for this course.
