Kimberly A. Unrau has a Bachelor of Music from Wayne State University (1988). She received a double major in performance (classical guitar) and education (percussion). In 2003 she received a Master of Art in Teaching and Learning from Nova Southeastern University.

Ms. Unrau has been teaching music in Michigan since 1989 - beginning her career in the Covert Public Schools. In 1994 she joined the faculty of the Academy of the Sacred Heart where she teaches instrumental and vocal ensembles for Kensington Hall, Middle School for Girls, Upper School and directs the music for the Upper School musical. In addition to her duties during the school day, Ms. Unrau also teaches guitar and percussion for the Academy of the Sacred Heart's Enrichment and Summer programs.

Besides educating about music, Ms. Unrau is also an active musician. She is a percussionist for several local churches and community orchestras. Ms. Unrau has also been a freelance guitarist in the Metropolitan Detroit area since 1980.
