Ashlyns is working to best prepare students for a modern workplace and is embracing the ideology that technology is a key tool to enhance learning. Google have spent the last few years designing a unique type of device that provides a smooth transition from the home to the classroom. Chromebooks allow students to have a standardised learning experience and make use of applications chosen by their teachers.
Chrome OS is a Cloud-based system which makes use of tailored tools, such as Google Classroom, to ensure students get the best experience possible.
Bringing personal devices in to the classroom has advantages for students, but it is important that learning is enhanced, not hindered.
In the near future students who wish to bring their personal device into school will be authorised and encouraged to do so. Although it is not possible for the school to allow all types of device into the classroom, any Chromebook device (running Chrome OS) will be authorised. However, the school requires families to purchase a management enrolment key and other assorted licences from the school for a nominal fee.
Adding your device to our management system will allow the school to install the necessary programs for students' learning and will also assist you in keeping your child safe at home, whilst online.
There is a wide range of Chromebook devices available, with many different features, and at a variety of price points. Any Chromebook (with necessary licence) will be authorised for use in the classroom. However, in order to assist you in this decision, we have outlined possible devices below. Please note that to use any Chromebook in school there will be an additional licence fee.
