Class Expectations
My approach to teaching is simple:
“Every day strive to bring out the best in yourself and in other others.”
Each and every day the students and I will strive to give our best effort in the classroom.
We will communicate respectfully with each other; listening quietly when someone else is speaking and constructively contributing to classroom discussions.
Students will actively collaborate when working in a group or with a partner.
Students will demonstrate personal responsibility and accountability by completing assignments on time, bringing their STEM materials to class, and responsibly using their Chromebooks.
FAILURE is Good….
….as long as you learn from your mistakes. Engineering is all about following a repeatable process to identify and solve problems. Engineers never stop with the first solution or even the second solution. They work in teams to use their knowledge and experience to develop the best solution. There are A LOT of mistakes and failures along the way. It is important to persevere and resilient.
I just want to know how I will be graded!!!!
Grades will be a combination of Projects and Classwork/Class Participation. We will use rubrics to grade Projects and Classwork. I will strive to keep iPass up to date so that students and parents can monitor progress.
6th Grade: Class Participation - 50%, Classwork/Projects - 50%
7th/8th Grade: Class Participation - 20%, Classwork/Projects - 80%

STEM Class Behavior Expectations
Students are expected to follow these class expectations:
Follow directions the first time they are given.
Only one person speaking at a time. No side conversations.
Bring all materials to class.
Keep hands, feet, and objects to yourself.
No put downs, insults, name calling, swearing, or inappropriate noises.
Raise your hand and wait to be called on before speaking.
Positive Consequences for following behavior expectations include:

Negative Consequences for NOT following behavior expectations include:
