Ashland High School
This course is a semester-long elective for students interested in studying the impact music has had on film. We will begin at the turn of the 20th century with the dawn of silent film and progress through classic films like King Kong, Gone With the Wind, Citizen Kane, Ghostbusters, Star Wars and many more. We will also look at how production companies like Disney and Warner Bros. contributed to sound and music in animation.
Students composer a short melodic theme to represent a character in a movie
Students write a short story, choose a piece of music that fits the mood of the story to serve as the underscoring for the film, and act the story out in front of a camera.
Research and present on a scary movie via Google Slides
Students create a movie trailer in a genre of their choosing.
This is the final project for the course.
Students write a 60 second synopsis of their favorite movie. Students then pitch their scripts to the class. The class votes on two. Students then create props, cast the movie, record the narration, research sound effects, add music, and record and edit their movie.
