Steps to Learn More and Begin the Application Process:

As you prepare to start the National Board Process, download and read the General Portfolio Instructions and your selected Certificate-Specific Instructions. Be sure to choose the right certificate by reading this guide document.

• Review the Guide to National Board Certification, Get Started, and Candidates Resources sections of the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards website.

• If you are eligible, apply for the NC-NBC loan on the NCDPI website before funds for the year are extinguished. 

• Create a candidate account.

• Pay the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards $75 annual registration fee.

• Select and purchase the components you would like to complete.
