The Yamamoto Research Lab

A biological material is group of substances synthesized or derived from a living organism. Such substances are ubiquitous in our surroundings. These materials undergo chemical and mechanical processing, resulting in their application as biocompatible and biodegradable hydrogels, nano fibers, drug carriers, scaffolding materials for cells, and tissue-healing applications.

In addition to their use in medical biomaterials, biopolymer-based hydrogels are expected to find applications in coagulants, soil water retention agents, cosmetics, and functional foods.

Our laboratory specializes in the characterization, chemical modification, structuring, applied research, and analysis of bio-applicable materials and bio-derived molecules.
