The Aspiring Scholars Directed Research Program (ASDRP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and development institution serving high school students in the Bay Area.
This Privacy Policy describes how ASDRP collects, uses, stores, and protects information through the ASDRP Central mobile application (“App”).
The App is intended exclusively for enrolled ASDRP students and authorized program staff.
We collect and maintain the following information in order to operate the program:
Full name
ASDRP email address
Grade level
Advisor assignment
Program participation status
Internal student identification number
This information is used solely for operating and administering the ASDRP program.
Biography
Projects, presentations, and papers
Profile photo (if uploaded)
Lab sign-in and sign-out timestamps
Attendance history
Project submissions
Reactions to posted projects
Device type
Operating system version
App version
Basic usage logs necessary for security and debugging
We do not collect precise location data.
We use collected information to:
Manage and monitor student participation in ASDRP
Enable profile visibility and networking within the program
Track lab attendance
Allow students to share research work internally
Maintain security and prevent misuse
Improve the functionality of the App
ASDRP Central does not sell, rent, or trade personal information.
Student profiles and posted research content are visible only to authenticated ASDRP students and authorized staff logged in with official ASDRP credentials.
Information is not publicly searchable and is not indexed by search engines.
Data is securely stored using cloud infrastructure provided by:
Firebase
Google Cloud
Security measures include:
Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS)
Authenticated access using organization-created ASDRP email credentials
Role-based access controls
Restricted administrative access
While we implement reasonable safeguards, no system can guarantee absolute security.
The App is primarily intended only for enrolled high school students (grades 9–12). Authorized ASDRP staff and advisors also use the App through a dedicated staff portal.
Accounts are provisioned through program enrollment and managed by ASDRP administrators. The App is not directed to children under 13, and ASDRP does not collect personal information from children under 13.
The App may send notifications related to:
Program updates
Attendance reminders
Advisor announcements
Important deadlines
Users may disable notifications through their device settings.
Student data is retained:
During active enrollment in ASDRP
For administrative and historical record purposes
Students may delete their account at any time through the App. Upon deletion, access to the App and profile visibility are removed. ASDRP may retain limited records necessary for institutional, compliance, or archival purposes.
Students may:
Request corrections to profile information
Request removal of profile content
Delete their account directly within the App
Contact ASDRP administration regarding their personal information
When a student deletes their account, their profile and associated access credentials are removed from active systems. Certain academic or administrative records may be retained as required for institutional, legal, or compliance purposes.

By accessing or using ASDRP Central, you agree to these Terms of Service.
The App is provided by the Aspiring Scholars Directed Research Program (ASDRP), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
You must:
Be an enrolled ASDRP student or authorized staff member
Use your assigned ASDRP credentials
Maintain the confidentiality of your account
Accounts may not be shared.
You agree not to:
Harass or intimidate other students
Post false or misleading research information
Upload inappropriate content
Attempt to bypass authentication or security
Misuse the attendance tracking system
Interfere with the operation of the App
All activities must align with ASDRP’s academic and professional standards.
Students retain ownership of their research content.
By posting content within the App, you grant ASDRP permission to:
Display the content within the program
Use the content for program-related educational purposes
Content remains visible only within the ASDRP community.
ASDRP reserves the right to suspend or revoke access if a user:
Violates these Terms
Engages in misconduct
Disrupts program operations
The App software, design, and infrastructure are properties of ASDRP.
Unauthorized copying, reverse engineering, or redistribution is prohibited.
The App is provided “as is” for internal program use.
While ASDRP strives for reliability and data accuracy, the organization is not liable for:
Temporary service interruptions
Technical errors
Unintentional data loss
ASDRP may update the App or these Terms at any time. Continued use of the App constitutes acceptance of updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
