Description: These two courses combine to provide students with a solid foundation in both mathematics and in STEM-focused literacy. After the two week math camp, students take a week off and return to wrap up with reading and writing skills. The courses are taught by veteran teachers from our fantastic fifth grade team. Additionally, this is the perfect time for our new students to get to know their future classmates and friends.

Description: Our 6th grade summer camps are the blueprint of our summer success. The courses are taught by veteran ASD teachers who know exactly what skills students need to be successful. This bundle is, quite literally, the total package. There's a course for every timeslot we offer. This is also the best way to get to know your new classmates before the year starts. This bundle also offers a choice in Week 4 so that you can customize for your student: either an Introduction to Biomedical Engineering or ELA Skills for 6th Grade Success: Writing.

Description: Our students work hard, and we want to set them up for success. Health is a graduation requirement in New Hampshire, and taking it over the summer can build in breathing room for our students as they start selecting their advanced STEM electives. AP Seminar: English 10 is the first step on the road to the coveted AP Capstone Diploma. Starting with a solid foundation on day one can give the student some well-earned confidence.

When: July 6-9 and July 13-16, 9:30-12:00 (Two Week Course)
Description: Ease in to 5th Grade at ASD. This course will help prepare students for the 5th grade math program at ASD. Content directly leads into the school year curriculum. This course is ideal for both students looking for a challenge and students who are nervous about what to expect. On the last day of the workshop, a mini-project will be completed based on the topics covered during the workshop. The goal of this program is to make learning interesting through real life example based knowledge acquisition and creating a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Description: This summer course focuses on developing STEM curiosity by connecting literacy with hands-on activities. Students will read literature that directly relates to STEM projects. Following the engineering process, students will create, test, discuss, and then reflect on their builds with daily writing.

Description: Students coming into sixth grade will need to develop good study habits to be successful at ASD! Students in any grade need to keep their skills sharp! This will also give them a head start on expectations for their upcoming grade classes.

Description: Get to know ASD! You'll learn about what school is like at ASD, and you'll get to know your fellow 6th graders. Description: Students will learn the fundamentals of 3D modeling software using Tinkercad, and use it to design different projects, such as a keychain, an avatar, spinning tops and more! Students will choose one project to print out and keep. Students will need to bring a device from home.

Description: Through fun challenges, experiments, and teamwork, students will learn how biomedical engineers solve real-world problems — from helping people move again to developing life-saving technology! Students will build working prosthetic hands, design medical devices (stethoscopes) and engineer a capsule to protect medicine tablets.

Description: This enriching summer course is specifically designed for students to develop essential scientific skills necessary for transitioning into high school science courses in the Fall, with a particular emphasis on Biology. The class is meant to enhance a students' confidence in scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and improve their ability to effectively analyze data. Through a variety of hands-on and engaging activities, students will: Learn to form hypothesis and design controlled experiments; Develop techniques for accurate data collection and analysis, Explore key concepts in Biology, Collaborate with one another to solve complex, real-world problems
Join this class for a fun and educational experience that prepares you for future scientific studies! Although the target audience is 8-9 graders, 7th grade students who are interested in getting a jump start on building up science skills are welcome.

Description: This course is intended for students who have not yet had Algebra I. Some Algebra I basics will be covered this week to prepare the students to begin Algebra I at ASD, and also some deeper Algebra concepts like factoring polynomials will be introduced to give students some advance practice. Although the course is intended for incoming students, previous students may also enjoy this camp for a review of Algebra I concepts, as they prepare to move on to their next math class. This course is also recommended for student who need to review competencies before advancing.

Description: Students consume news throughout the class, newspaper/television/internet. They would discuss the topics covered in the news, while also learning about different sources and biases in the media. The class would not have a set curriculum obviously, as it would be largely dependent on what was happening in the news. I think middle school age is the perfect time to get them thinking about and discussing these issues, and the idea of them being able to go home and intelligently discuss what’s going on in politics or world events with their families would be incredible.

Description: Introduces the major religions of the world and explores how religious beliefs shape cultures, traditions, and daily life around the globe. Credit Bearing and AP Preparation Camps
These High School only camps give students an opportunity to open up their school year with either a mandatory class completed, or with the skills to embark on their AP journey

Description: This summer course will allow students to get their health graduation requirement completed in just 3 weeks as opposed to taking the semester long course during the school year. It is a great option for students expecting a full course load next year! This will be graded as a course that will go on the student's transcripts. This course runs for three weeks. Rising seniors receive priority in this course.

Description: AP Seminar is the first step on the way to the AP Capstone Diploma. This course will help build up the baseline skills students will need to be successful in the multiyear path. AP Seminar teaches students the ability to digest complex real world topics and to piece together compelling arguments from a variety of sources. It hones a student's public speaking and presentation skills no matter their path.
