Message from your Principal:
Dear Hanshew Families,
Welcome back to the 25-26 school year at Hanshew! This school year has already started off to be as amazing as expected. Our returning 7th and 8th graders came back full of life and our new 6th graders are focused, kind, and ready for the middle school experience. Please encourage your student to start tracking their assignments and grades in canvas and Q. If they need support, afterschool tutoring is on Tuesdays and Thursdays in the library from 4:15-5:15pm and the writing lab is open on Wednesdays and Fridays in the library from 4:15-5:15pm.
The Fall 2025 MAP Growth testing schedule has been sent out. Please ask your student to take this test seriously as the data is used to determine the placement in classes. There are several upcoming sports, activities, and reminders, so please check the Hanshew website calendar to keep abreast of upcoming events! Volleyball for girls starts on Tuesday October 14th, please turn in all paperwork to office 5 to be eligible by the first day of practice.
September is attendance awareness month, please encourage your student to attend school and all classes every day! September 15-October 15 is Latinx Heritage Month, we will be celebrating the many contributions of the Latinx culture and heritage at Hanshew Middle School. If you would like to contribute in any way or volunteer, please give us a call or email.
As always, thank you for your support, patience, and understanding this school year! Thank you for also entrusting us with the education and care of your students, we appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Dr. Lakhita Hodge
Hanshew Middle School Principal
AP UPDATES-
Welcome Back Students!
We are so happy to be back in school and we are looking forward to an exciting year! Here are a few reminders as we get this year underway:
Please review the dress code policy and ensure you student is dressing appropriately for school.
The new ASD ECD policy is in place, please see our website for more information.
Start On Time Policy goes into effect September 2, 2025. Students need to be in their class prior to the bell ringing to avoid being tardy. Students who arrive late on a bus will be excused to class (will not count as a tardy). Students tardy to class will receive a lunch detention to be served with 2 school days. Failure to serve can result in additional consequences.
If students would like to attend a sporting event or activity after school hours they must leave school property by 4:15, they cannot stay at school until the event. When they return they MUST be accompanied by an adult, this is an ASD policy. Students without an adult will be sent home.
