Message from your Principal:
Dear Hanshew Families,
Happy New Year 2025! I hope you had a great holiday season and enjoyed quality time with family and friends along with some much needed rest and relaxation. We are glad to be back in school as we missed our middle schoolers.
2nd quarter grades are viewable to parents via Q already. Please check in with your student's teachers if you have any questions or concerns. Unlike elementary school, we do not have Spring parent teacher conferences. If you have concerns or just wanting to discuss your student's progress in middle school please give us a call or email. We are able to set up meetings with your student's team of teachers or individual teachers by request.
We will celebrate our 2nd quarter honor roll students with certificates and ice cream on Friday, January 17th. The student who made growth on the MAP Growth testing will get their olympic gold, silver, and bronze prizes during the week of Jan. 27-31, 2025. We are so proud of our student's academic accomplishments this year!
The counselors will be be starting elementary and high school transition meetings and visits, course selections, and recommendations for the 2025-2026 school year. Counselors will start meeting with current Hanshew 6th and 7th graders to discuss elective classes for next year. Teachers will recommend students for their core classes based on multiple academic data points. The 8th graders will meet with the high school counselors and tour Service HS in March.
If you have an incoming 6th grader to Hanshew, counselors will be visiting the elementary schools at the end of the month. We will also host a family fun night on Feb. 6, 2025 from 6:00-7:30pm to welcome them to our school and meet our staff. Food will be provided!
Lastly, there is no school Monday, Jan. 20th in observance of Rev. Dr. MLK Day.
As always, thank you for your support, patience, and understanding this school year! Thank you for also entrusting us with the education and care of your students, we appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Dr. Lakhita Hodge
