But many of the titles they love the most in our library have been damaged or worn out from heavy use. In the first few weeks of school this year, the library has had to retire more than 100 titles that kids have checked out and returned due to the worn condition of the books. The kids are taking great care of them, but a book can only last so many years as a school favorite before needing to be replaced.
Families using the book fair to purchase and donate books from our retired book list is the fastest way to get these favorite titles back into the hands of our kids. Replacing books this way also frees up the library to pursue new and more recent book releases to meet the needs of our increasingly literate and diverse student body.
Please consider purchasing and donating to the library titles from our Replacement Need list. Your donation can be anonymous or we'd be happy to place your name by the titles on the list you donate. Titles will be removed from the list as they are claimed by those wishing to replace them, so you can be sure the title you donate is one the library needs. The majority of the books listed are those the kids first checked out at the beginning of the school year, so donations will not sit idle!
