In all classes, students should be taking notes on lectures and readings. All quizzes and tests in my class are OPEN-NOTE, so students who choose not to take notes are missing an easy opportunity to get a better grade. Note-taking also helps students retain, or keep in memory, what they have heard or read – even if the student never looks at the notes again.
