If you enjoy singing, learning, making music with others, growing, building a stronger brain and body, and having fun with your friends, choir is for you!
Choir begins in the 6th grade and continues throughout the 7th and 8th grade years.
We are so glad your child is interested in music. To provide the best educational experience for all students, we encourage those who are interested in choir to join in 6th grade.
Research the many benefits of singing in choir
Ask Ms. Congdon about singing in choir
Talk to former or current choir members about choir
Take care of your health; your body is your instrument
Celebrate that you have your instrument with you all the time, with no extra cost!
Plan to work hard and have fun growing and learning in choir
Forget that the human voice is an instrument, and that choir is learning how to use that instrument
Forget that we learn sight reading in choir; it is work to read a score!
Worry about money or transportation for your instrument--it's free and always with you :)
Assume there are "boy" and "girl" ensembles; everyone is welcome and expected to grow in choir
Wonder if you can sing--everyone can sing and choir is where we learn how!
