I have been teaching in Alaska since 2005 and have spent the past 18 years teaching in the Bowman Open Optional Program. I am certified to teach in grades K-12 and hold a Masters of Education with a reading specialist endorsement. I am passionate about teaching and learning and I love working with our youngest learners and their families! I strive to create a community of learners who grow socially, emotionally and academically in a positive, fun environment. I value learning through play, nature experiences and explorations.
In my spare time I like going on adventures with my husband, Soren. I am an avid reader, traveler and outdoor enthusiast.
I'm a born and raised Alaskan. In 2013, I graduated from UAA and taught Kindergarten for four years as well as in ASD's Chinese Immersion program for one year. I completed my Masters through Walden University in Reading and Literacy. I took some time off to raise my own family, returning to Bowman's 1st grade neighborhood classroom in 2022. I am looking forward to another year as a BOOP teacher I am excited to build an engaging and exciting learning environment for students that support their social and academic success!
Aside from teaching, I love spending time with my family. We love to camp, hike, snowmachine, four wheel, watch movies, and traveling to our family house in Mexico.
