To read music, we use the lines and spaces on the STAFF, and read left to right, top to bottom, just like a book!

If we go UP the staff, we go up the alphabet: A, B, C, D, E, F, G, A...etc.

If we go DOWN the staff, we go backwards: G, F, E, D, C, B, A, G...etc.

Each note gets a letter, and we alternate between lines and spaces.

REMEMBER: Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge! and FACE! But don't forget MIDDLE C has an extra ledger line underneath the staff!
