Wit & Wisdom
Wit and Wisdom is our English curriculum. It builds knowledge of key topics in history, science, and literature through the study of excellent texts. By reading and responding to stories and nonfiction texts, we will build knowledge of the following topics:
Module 1: A Season of Change
Module 2: The American West
Module 3: Civil Rights Heroes
Module 4: Good Eating
Science and Social Studies
Our science kits include space and states of matter. Our social studies will focus on communities, particularly Anchorage and Alaska. We’ll explore and learn about our lovely city on field trips and through many other experiences. This year is jam packed with awesome field trips. Check the calendar!
Grading and Assessment
Each student will develop and keep a portfolio of their own work. This shows each student’s growth and accomplishments over the year and is a wonderful assessment tool. We will have a portfolio share during the school year to celebrate your child's accomplishments.
Aquarian has adopted the following standard primary grading scale:
O = +90% (Outstanding work)
S+ = 80-89%
S = 70-79% (Satisfactory)
S- = 60-69%
N = 59% and below (Needs improvement, a plan or some help)
