The Director

Mr. Nate Martin began playing violin at age 10 while living in Germany with his military family. While moving around to different places, he never lost a love for stringed instruments and music making and as a sophomore in high school, started to play the cello. He studied cello and music education at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and then worked several years in North Carolina public schools. He returned to UNCG for his masters degree, where he studied Music Education with a research focus on English for Speakers of Foreign Languages.

From 2017-2020, Mr. Martin taught English and German and worked with Syrian youth refugees in Kassel, Germany and finally moved to Alaska in December, 2020 during the Coronavirus Pandemic.

Besides music, Mr. Martin loves learning new languages, traveling around the world, flying airplanes with the Civil Air Patrol (PPL), and going on adventures around Alaska.
