Requirements for participating in cross country skiing include: an activity fee, a participation form, and physical from a clinic or doctor's office. Paperwork is available from the Mears Student Services Office and can be downloaded from the district's webpage at : Participation Pease e-mail both your Sports Physical and Activity Participation forms to:
The activity fee for cross country skiing is $110.00. Waiver forms are available in the Student Services Office and online at the link above. Fees are paid through Parent Connect.
Practices are from 4:15-5:45, starting the 8th. We will meet on the back side of the track by the Ski Room (PE storage room #4.)
**We have a limited number of skis/poles/boots for student check-out. If your skier needs to borrow from Mears, we will be checking them out during the first two days of practice.
**If students have their own skis, they may store them at school in our ski room. On meet days and Kincaid practice days, students are responsible for their own skis (owned or borrowed) and getting them back to school.
Gear: (if purchasing new gear, AMH offers a 10% ski team discount)
Combi skis (or both skate AND classic - skate skis can be used as combi skis)
Nordic poles with straps
Combi or skate boots
Cold weather clothing
PLEASE join our Remind group! Both skiers AND parents should do this! This is how we will communicate any changes in schedules and we will also send out reminders!

KINCAID PRACTICE SCHEDULE
We will have 5 away practices at Kincaid. Buses will pick us up at 4:30 at Mears and practice will end at 6:00 at Kincaid. The bus will arrive back at Mears at 6:20. If you would like to pick your skier up from Kincaid, you must sign them out just as you would from a meet. We use the lower parking lot at Kincaid. Look for the car with the Mears X-C Skiing banner on it for the sign-out sheet.
*On days when the temperature is 0 degrees or colder, Kincaid practice will be cancelled and changed to a Mears practice.

Races
The races are weekly with two the final week of the season. There are 4 races to choose from. They are A, B, C, and D. I like to think of them this way: A is for the skiers that want to very competitive, B is for those that who want to be less competitive, C is I'm having fun skiing, maybe newish and want to push myself, and D is I'm learning and/or I just want to have fun. Skiers will be choosing which course they would like to do and can change from race to race.
