Alaska Natives have been math geniuses since the beginning of time. I love teaching students how Alaska's Indigenous people have lived in the harshest climate in the world using principals of math to survive. It is astounding how they have passed on their wisdom reaching all cultures. Technology created by Alaska Native people has provided safe and effective hunting, fishing, and survival tools for all people and are the foundation of modern technology. I welcome elders, subsistence specialists, parents, and anyone who can share their expertise in subsistence.

All middle school students are expected to get TWO iReady progressions each week.
Ms. Riha has her classroom available from 8:00 am - 8:40 am M, T, TH, & F for kids who do not have access to a computer or the Internet at home.
Ms. Riha has 6th Grade (Kottre's homeroom) during Block C, which is our snack period. Here is the snack calendar for September.
Snacks: Middle schoolers don't have lunch until 1:15, and they get really hungry around 11:00. Please send a snack on your scheduled day, or anytime you can help.

Benvenuta! (Welcome in Italian),
I have been a part of ANCCS since the beginning and LOVE our school, families, students, staff, and cultural spirit! I am from Italian heritage and love learning about people, culture, and how we are all connected as human beings.
I have high expectations for my students and welcome suggestions, questions, and the challenging struggle that comes with learning math.
I am blessed to have my grandchildren attend ANCCS and am starting to get kids of students whom I taught years ago in Southwest Region School District. This is my 25th year teaching, and I am very passionate about helping students discover their strengths and identity. Retirement is just around the corner!
