Message from your Principal:
Dear Hanshew Families,
Welcome to a great new school year at Hanshew full of positiveness, opportunities, and endless possibilities for your student! This school year we are excited to pilot a powerful new academic tool called Khanmigo that allows students to strengthen their skills using AI for practice and tutorials. As teachers learn how to use this tool to enhance student learning, they will teach students how to use it. Please ask your student to show you this tool and how it works!
October 9th is Indigenous Peoples Day and there is no school.
The end of the 1st quarter is October 20th and there is no school for students. Teachers will be grading assignments and posting grades. Parents should be able to view 1st quarter grades in Parent Connect after Tuesday, October 24th. The honor roll celebration for 1st quarter will take place in the classes on November 3rd. Student will receive a certificate, bumper sticker, and ice cream coupon for earning the honor roll.
Fall parent teacher conferences for middle school will be held on October 25 (12:15-3:00pm) & 26 (12:15-3:00pm & 4-7pm). There is no school for students on Friday, October 27th! Please check your student's grades in canvas and Q as a parent observer. Please also encourage them to attend tutoring after school starting on September 12th if they need help. The National Honor Society students at Service HS will tutor Hanshew students on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:30pm in the library with a counselor present.
As always, thank you for your support, patience, and understanding this school year! Thank you for also entrusting us with the education and care of your students, we appreciate you!
Sincerely,
Dr. Lakhita Hodge
Hanshew Middle School Principal
