About Mrs. Watson

Nice to meet you!

Hello! My name is Mindy Watson and it is a pleasure and an honor to be your social studies teacher this year! Our state has so many cool things to know about.... from natives who first lived here to battlegrounds in our own backyards.

I have been teaching at the middle school level for 23 years. I have been teaching at Belton Middle School for 19 of those years. I have taught all middle school grade levels, but 8th is definitely my favorite! I graduated from Lander University in Greenwood where I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood, Elementary, and Special Education. I was the BMS Teacher of the Year in 2004, and the S.C. Council for the Social Studies Middle Level Teacher of the Year in 2006. I love working at BMS and love my BMS family!

Growing up, I had dreams of being an airline pilot, flight attendant, nurse, and teacher. However as a kid, you could find me playing school with my dolls and helping my mother set up her own classroom at the beginning of the school year (my mom is now a retired teacher). I love working with middle-schoolers and watching them discover who they are trying to become throughout the school year.

I have a daughter, Madylin, who is a 9th grader at Palmetto High School. Maddy loves to play the ukulele and sings in the writes her own songs. She goes to Palmetto since we live 1 mile from the school and her friends are there. We have 5 cats~ Bella, Kono (named after Kono from Hawaii Five-0), Benedict Cumberbatch, Phoebe, and Piper. Our cats are always wide open, wound up, and tearing up on scratching posts nonstop. We adopted Phoebe and Piper, and they joined our family at Christmas. I also love my BMS Warriors and support my Clemson Tigers!

The 2021-2022 school year is going to be AWESOME for all of us!
