Tinker Kits All About Tinker Kits.

In this class, we have tinker kits that we can use for many challenges.Sadly, in September, we only got to “try” to make a driving thing with only three wheels, a motor, and nuts and bolts. (We also had other essential things.)Hopefully this October we will make a “better car'' and other things. I've found that the Tinker Kits are entertaining when you are bored.

PreSchool Apple Investigation

Here’s a few things that the fifth grade did to help out in preschool last month.

We helped preschool students find out what color their apple was, we helped them measure how many counting cubes tall their apple was, and we also helped them to see if their apple had a stem.  Here’s a couple more things we did. We checked to see if the apple sinks or floats. Then at the very end, we counted how many seeds there were in the apple. Finally, we ate the yummy apple.

For our God’s Creation Art project everybody brought in nature that they could find including grass, pine cones, moss, sticks, flowers, leaves etc. Then we got all of this beautiful art that was made by God's nature. Some of the art pictures that were made were porcupines, horses, fish, landscapes, chameleons, moose, and more! We also liked getting to make something we loved that God made, into a nature art project! Everybody really liked doing this art project and getting to go find nature and bring it into class.

September Birthdays:

Lily: Lily turned 11 on  September 13th. She is the tallest one in the class. She is very intelligent when it comes to Tinker Kits. She is very nice in the classroom no matter what happens.

Phillip: He also turned 11 on September 25th. He is learning a little bit more about basketball. Phillip is new to All Saints, but that doesn't mean he can’t make new friends. He made a new friend named Fabian ( or Fab for short ). When Phillip plays basketball, his teammate is Fab.

Eli: Eli’s 11th birthday was on September 26th. He is also new to All Saints. He made some friends. Their names were Reese, BreeZ, Phillip, Andy, Maddy, Lily, Grace, Lane, Tori, Fab, and more.

Grandparents Mass (Ezrah, Molly)

This grandparents' mass there were a lot of cookies. People nicely made cookies for the grandparents' mass and donated them. After the mass there was reception with the grandparents  so they could see their grandkids. There was coffee and thankfully it was decaf. There were a lot of people there that did not have grandparents but that was all right. They still had fun, some of our friends had some fun with us. After that we had recess, most kids stayed as long as possible with their grandparents.I walked down when the bell rang

Write About Wednesday (Maddy)

Hi this is Maddy, In September we did Write about Wednesday and this is all the Write about Wednesday we did so far. 9-7-22, A dream you had or write about a  guinea pig. 9-21-22, we wrote, imagine you were on a desert island and a large suitcase washed to shore so you opened it. What is inside? 9-28-22, you are on a beach and you see a bottle and you open it. What is inside? The other is there is a train that can take you to one moment in the past, or an Ode to your favorite toy that you forgot about, you lost, or you don’t play with anymore.

4H Experience (Grace and Lane wrote it.)

Fifth Grades 2022 4-H Experience.

I think all 7 of the 5th grade projects went very smoothly. Tori, Emily, Lane, Ezrah, Lilly, Molly, and Grace, did a great job in showing either  swine, goat, or beef (pig, goat, and steer.)  Lane and his steer named Steve were a  very cooperative group in the show ring. Lily's steer named Bubba Gump was a very cooperative steer. (not mentioning all of the liking in the ring.) Then we move on to the pigs, Tori Krahn, and her pig named Brandon as  (both) very new members of 4-H, did very well in Quality, fitting and showing, and selling. Molly and her pig named princess poopsalot, did fairly well in fitting and showing, and great in Quality and great in selling. And now we're moving on to the goat, Ezrah and her goat named Ebony did very well in fitting and showing and Quality and she did not sell because it is a dairy goat. And if you know how a chicken is called poultry or fowl it is the same way with other animals. Here are some of their names: a pig = porcine, a steer = bobine, birds = foul, goats = capra. I  think it would be nice if people knew what the animals' names were. Lane’s steer was named “Steve” Grace’s pig’s name was “Grayson”, Lily's steer’s name was “Bubba gump” And Tori’s pig’s name was “Brandon”.Ezrah’s dairy goats name was “Ebony”.  Molly’s pig's name was “Princess Poopsalot”.  Emily’s Pigs name was “Wilber”. In my opinion the Fifth grade has good animal names.Great job 5th grade!

Pendulum Art

This fall we looked at the variables that affect a pendulum.  We tried to design a pendulum that could keep accurate time by completing one cycle each  second.  We weren't sure if changing the mass, angle of release, or string length would make a difference.  We were surprised to learn that only the string length changed the speed of a pendulum.   Later we made a pendulum in an art project.   We poked a hole in a cup and hooked a piece of string to it and tied it to a playground thingy  and put paint on. We let it swing on a paper and it made really cool designs.

Class Pet

As a class we are all debating  about the name for the  Pterodactyl. We will vote on it after we get some good name ideas. Please help us out and submit a name to Macee and Grace. We will announce the name next newsletter.

Classroom Jobs (Macee, Tori)

In 5th grade we have classroom jobs. We do this to help out Mr. Jackson so he’s not stuck doing all of these jobs.
