Mary Jane A. Marigmen is a licensed forester and currently serves as Assistant Professor I in the Bachelor of Science in Forestry program at Aurora State College of Technology (ASCOT). She earned her Master of Science in Environmental Management from ASCOT from 2016 to 2019, after completing her Bachelor of Science in Forestry at the same institution between 2008 and 2013. Her career reflects a strong foundation in forest management, conservation, and environmental science, complemented by years of hands-on experience in both academic and field settings.
She began her professional journey as an Enumerator and Field Assistant for ASCOT in 2013, later working as a Research Assistant at AMRDI, and subsequently holding positions such as Laboratory Aide II and University Research Associate at UP Marine Science Institute. In 2015, she served as both Extension Officer for the DENR and Science Research Technician I at WWRRC-CCLERS. From 2016 to 2018, she worked as Forest Technician I at the DENR, and in 2020, she assumed the role of Ecosystem Management Specialist I. Since joining ASCOT in 2019, she has steadily advanced through the ranks, previously holding the ranks of Instructor I and III before her current position.
She specializes in protected area management, mangrove and marine turtle identification, and is a certified open water diver. Her extensive training background includes participation in over 20 seminars and workshops on topics such as biodiversity conservation, environmental governance, GIS mapping, coastal resource management, and sustainable development from 2021 through 2024. Notable training programs include the Youth for Biodiversity Camp in the Sierra Madre, Paralegal Training on Environmental Governance, the SGP-7 Project Writeshop, and National Seminar-Workshops on research publication and advisory techniques.
Beyond her academic and research duties, she has served as a resource speaker in various events, addressing topics like climate change and its impact on agriculture, marine protected area management, herbal extract research for bioactivity studies, and science education advocacy. She has also contributed as a lecturer in solid waste management and has been recognized for her participation in oceanographic research across Baler Bay and Casiguran Sound.
In her current roles, she serves as the Extension Officer and Student Internship Program Coordinator of the same school. With a deep commitment to academic excellence and environmental advocacy, she continues to shape the next generation of forestry professionals while contributing to sustainable resource management in her region.
