ABOUT ME

Dr.  Krantz is very excited to be entering her 3rd year as the Latin teacher at the Upper School at Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado. She previously taught Latin and Classics to fifth graders at a BASIS charter school in San Antonio, TX. Before that, she earned her MA and PhD at the University at Buffalo, in Classical Languages. Dr. Krantz came to Fort Collins with her two cats, Marcus and Umbra. She is eager help Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Colorado expand and develop, and to help the Latin department grow along with it. 

EDUCATION PHILOSOPHY

Latin is an important part of any student's education, especially in a classical setting. It is part of our shared heritage, and it opens up a new world for students to explore. Latin instruction should also balance information about Latin derivatives in English, as well as basic knowledge of Roman History and Culture, to provide context for the Latin they will encounter.

WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO

I'm looking forward to watching my students take their first steps in learning Latin, and watching them discover the joy of translating and reading sources in their native language. On a personal level, I'm looking forward to exploring the hikes and natural areas around Fort Collins.
