Expectations for week of December 4th - 8th
Greetings history scholars,
We have ten sessions remaining prior to final exams. In order to make the most of our time I have created a detailed schedule which will be distributed each Monday to help you remain on task to successfully meet your obligations with excellence and balance.
As mentioned previously during class time, your final grade will be based on this paper. We will be taking a test on the assigned final exam day, however it will be a unit test and will be weighted accordingly. All final papers will be due at the beginning of our final exam session. Our unit test will cover Land of Hope chapter 5, Washington’s Farewell Address, and Federalist Papers 9, 10, and 51.
Monday, December 4th
Prompts and expectations for papers will be distributed. Outlines and rough drafts will be completed during class periods. Tutoring sessions on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays along with conference, can be reserved for additional support.
Homework for Monday: Read Land of Hope ch 5§1 pp 74-78. Identify the big ideas and any unknown vocabulary. There will be a reading quiz on 12/5.
Tuesday, December 5th
Reading quiz 5§1 10 minutes
Section discussion 15 minutes
Work session for final paper 25 minutes
Homework for Tuesday/Wednesday: Read Land of Hope ch 5§2-4 pp 78-84. Identify the big ideas and any unknown vocabulary. There will be a reading quiz on 12/7.
Thursday, December 7th
Reading quiz 5§2-4 10 minutes
Section discussion 25 minutes
Work session for final paper 65 minutes
Homework for Thursday: Complete Ch 5§2-4 exercise.
Friday, December 8th
Chapter 5§2-4 exercise due
Cumulative quiz ch 5§1-4 15 minutes
Final paper assignment clarifications and expansions 10 minutes

Homework for Friday: Read Land of Hope Ch 5§5 pp 86-92. Identify the big ideas and any unknown vocabulary. There will be a reading quiz on Monday, December 11th.
Should you choose to get ahead on reading, continue to George Washington’s farewell address (document provided.) This is a difficult and longer document. Might I suggest that you listen to it along with your text or in advance of your reading for more clarity?

Expectations for week of November 27 - December 1
Greetings and welcome back!
On Monday we will quickly review § 1-4 of Chapter 4 in the Land of Hope. We will move on to § 5-7 during class on Monday and Tuesday. We will talk through the chapter materials and discuss questions we found during our reading time.
Chapter 4 was assigned reading to have been completed PRIOR to Thanksgiving break...if you haven't read it yet...you are behind! Read the chapter thoroughly and take detailed notes.

Completed study guides will be turned in for a grade immediately prior to the unit test on Friday, December 1st. Do not wait until the last minute to complete your guide!
Thursday, November 30th will be a review and practice day.
Friday, December 1st is our Unit 2 test covering material in chapter 4, excluding § 8. If you are absent during the week prior to the test, you are still expected to take it on Friday.
If you need support, I will be happy to meet with you during conference or after school on Monday or Wednesday.
