As your School Counselor, my mission is to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all students in grades K–8. I work with students through individual check-ins, small groups, and classroom lessons to help them build important life skills such as emotional regulation, positive peer relationships, problem-solving, and responsible decision-making. My goal is to create a safe, supportive environment where every student feels heard, valued, and equipped to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
I value strong collaboration with families, teachers, and staff, and I believe that working together is key to supporting each child’s overall well-being and success.
While I support students’ social-emotional needs, matters related to school discipline, enforcement of rules, and formal complaints are handled by school administration. For those concerns, I encourage families to connect directly with our principal Terry Mullaney.
When appropriate, I may recommend outside resources, including counseling services, for students who would benefit from additional support beyond what can be provided at school.
I am committed to fostering a caring, respectful, and supportive school community where every child can grow and thrive.
Mrs. MK
Guidance lessons are delivered to all students in a classroom setting and focus on building essential academic, social, and emotional skills. I am fortunate to meet with every class once a week, ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade, which allows me to provide consistent, proactive support to all students. These lessons are designed to help students develop tools they can use in everyday situations, with topics such as friendship skills, emotional regulation, bullying prevention, study habits, and decision-making.
In accordance with the Louisville Archdiocese programs, all students in kindergarten through eighth grade participate in the Speak Up Be Safe curriculum, which focuses on child abuse prevention. Additionally, middle school students (grades 6–8) participate twice a year in the Mindwise Signs of Suicide curriculum to build awareness and skills related to suicide prevention. Both of these programs are implemented across all schools within the Archdiocese of Louisville, helping ensure students receive consistent and important safety education. By reaching every student, guidance lessons help create a positive and supportive school environment where all students can learn and grow.
Individual counseling provides students with one-on-one support to address personal, social, emotional, or academic concerns. These sessions are typically short-term and focused on helping students develop strategies to manage challenges such as anxiety, peer conflicts, family changes, or academic difficulties. Students may be referred by parents, teachers, or may request to meet with the counselor themselves. Communication with parents is maintained as appropriate, while also respecting student confidentiality.
Group counseling offers students the opportunity to meet in small groups with peers who may be experiencing similar challenges or concerns. These groups are structured and time-limited, focusing on topics such as social skills, coping with anxiety, managing emotions, grief, or building friendships. Group counseling provides a supportive space where students can share experiences, learn from one another, and practice new skills. Parent or guardian permission is typically required for participation, and groups are formed based on student needs.
