The MS Chapter of ASBDA is excited to host its 11th annual ASBDA Young Directors Symposium. The symposium will take place at our State Band Clinic on Thursday, December 11th, from 9 A.M. to 12 P.M., in the New Orleans Room. We have a fantastic group of presenters ready to share with you, including William Garner, Lara Pitts, Dee Dee Pitts, Jennifer Sills, Sharon Laird, and Jay McArthur. While we are geared toward young directors, all are welcome to participate!
We hope that you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! We took a break from our Young Director Outreach in the fall because of extra crazy schedules. We are looking forward to kicking that off again in the spring semester. These meetings will include a guest speaker to speak 15 to 30 minutes on a topic chosen by the outreach committee. The remainder of the meeting time will be spent answering questions and speaking about the topics of our attendees.
Our objective is to reach the young directors (and anyone else interested in joining us) in our state as we journey through the different seasons of our career. Guest speakers will share their expertise on certain topics that we feel will be most beneficial to our attendees. Our hope is to establish working relationships throughout our state. These are done via Zoom on one Wednesday a month from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. If you have a topic that you would like to see discussed during these outreach meetings, please feel free to contact me (Kim Pickering) at kim.pickering@dcsms.org. Our committee is excited to see several back in those meetings next semester! We look forward to seeing everyone at State Band Clinic next week!
Sincerely,
Young Director Outreach Committee
