As a normal human as the clock hits 12 and I hear voices yell "Happy New Year" I already have my planner out with my new year's resolution. However unlike most this year I actually intended on changing my lifestyle and creating a new healthy habit. So, I go onto the app store and search, "Fitness tracker", "checklist app", "Healthy habits"... I browse and browse finding numerous apps with different tools I needed however not one had the perfect combination I was looking for. So, I put myself up to the task and created my first ever application which I now proudly present.
I created this app not only for the day-to-day use but because I wanted to prove I can do anything I put myself up to and create solutions for problems I have along the way. I was done waiting for someone else to start my new lifestyle and creating excuses so I knew what I had to do.
I created this project on a program called Thunkable which introduced me to block coding. I personally changed every detail to make it aesthetically pleasing and coded the different actions I wanted it to do on each page.
I ended up with a full functioning multi-tool application which I can now use to create a checklist, cross out tasks individually, reset the to-do list, and save information from individual workouts all in one app.
These results are not only important because it proved to be functioning but it reassured me that I can do anything I put myself up to. I was very intimated by this project since this is my first year as a stem student in a community so infiltrated by males. However, I proved to me I deserve to be here just as much as anybody and that if I could stick to making this app and finishing, I could stick to my new years resolution.
Since this is my first year using this type of technology I did not have a lot of experience so my abilities did not go a long way. I would really like to later on include a calorie tracker and a graph to measure the progress in each workout. I would also like to change the aesthetic of the app to make it more professional and classy.
I got a lot of inspiration and instructions from the youtube video "Checklist App Tutorial" by Thunkable itself. I also got a los of support by Mr. Shelden my Digital Design and Engineering and Robotics teacher, who pushed me to advance all of my projects to the best of my ability.
This is fantastic and amazing this was one of your first major projects in STEM. The App seems very useful for the dual functions of tracking workouts and making lists which could be applied to a variety of contexts including tasks or as simple as a grocery store list. The graphics are large and the usability is excellent. What other features could you add to this? Alarms? Modfiable texts/graphics?
