I did a 3D monument using Tinkercad. I recreated a famous Argentinian place called La Boca, because it has an amazing colorful structure and it represents a culture that influenced my last 12 years of living in Argentina.
I did the monument for my Digital Design class. I had a lot of questions at first as 3D modeling is new to me. I asked myself, what can I do? Or, how can I do all this textures and colors in just one structure?
I solved all my questions by starting with the basic structure that only had 3 main colors, and from there I started adding thin layers of other colors as well as windows, doors and more artistic aspects of the monument.
While trying to do all of this, i got to know the basic in Tinkercard and also the fact that you can copy paste things other have made, which helps A LOT. It was also fun to use a block that kind of allows you to put a picture in it, which is kinda cool. And it was fun to see how class by class the monument started to make sense till reaching its final look.
My results are important because they show my development while trying something new. While trying something that you don't know, it might be difficult or stressing at first, but what I learned is that as you get familiar with it, you get to experiment things that maybe you would have never tried.
What I could do to improve my project would be to learn to use textures to the building, as it would give it a more realistic look. I could also try to implement some other aspects of the monument. Like trying to build the inside and you take the roof of and see the inside, that would be cool.
I decided to do La Boca because Mr. Shelden told us to be creative and do something fun. And what's more fun than a colorful building that represents art, culture and dancing?
What was enthralling was how you completely captured the feeling and attitude of the world-renown buildings of La Boca. The narrow design, the vibrant colors, the balconies all put me right into the neighborhood. As a further exploration I would love to see more details of what is behind the balcony. If it was a curtain, giving it a flowing type of feel; or if it was corrugated steel, giving it the wavy features of that product. The best thing I can say is it made me miss the place, and made me want to go back from how vivid the details were.
