I wanted to find out if I could make a vehicle without fuel or electricity. So I made a boat powered by a rubber band.
I chose a boat because i have done a boat before so i kind of knew what i was doing. I did not wanted to make more pollution.
I made a boat powered by rubber bands. My first idea did not work. There were two wooden skewers on both sides of the boat and the propeller was on the back of the boat attached to the wooden skewers. The rubber band went around the skewers and the propeller so when you wind it up and then let it go it makes the boat move but the rubber band squeezed everything together and didn't let it spin. So then I came up with another idea. I put a chopstick through the back of the boat and put the propellers on each side attached to the chopstick. In the inside of the boat I hot glued the rubber band on the chopstick and in the front of the boat I hot glued the other end of the rubber band.
That you can make vehicles without using electricity or fuel. But it does not last long. When I would wind up the propellers it made the boat move.
Yes it is possible to make a vehicle without fuel or electricity. It is not perfect there are some improvements that we can do.
I could've cut more of the base of the boat so its lighter. Get a bigger rubber band.
My dad helped me with some stuff like the hot glueing the propellers. My dad also helped me improve some of my ideas
I really enjoyed this because it shows two things -- your ability to create something that is functional and purposeful and your desire to create something is "Earth-friendly" which would not require any sort of fossil fuels or electricity. Perhaps in the future you could expand on this by showing a wider variety of designs to see which is best for traveling furthest in the water but I like how you did provide ideas how to further improve your current design!
