How can I have my own theater movie at home by using smartphones? I looked for some ideas to build a smartphone projector on the internet, then I found a very simple way of doing it. I gathered the materials and I tried the prototype. In my first model, I saw some things that weren’t working well so I tried a second model. This gave me better results and the projector worked perfectly.
Because it seems fun to do, it was easy because you need few materials and it doesn’t take too much time. Questions about the project: Is it useful? Is it easy to create? Do I need many materials to make it possible? Would it last?
First, I look for some ideas on the internet. Then I found an idea that was easy for me to do because I have the materials needed at home, especially thinking of the pandemic. After gathering the materials, I look at the model I saw on the internet. Materials: shoe box, paintings, a pencil, tape, scissors, glue, magnifying glass and a smartphone. I wrote down the steps to follow and build the projector. Then I wrote about the project on a Google document. During the process, I recorded videos and took pictures to demonstrate how I did it.
I found out that the project was successful. In the second model, I did some changes inside the box so it was a lot easier to place the smartphone in the back to have a better image when projecting. I also found out that cutting the box could be a little dangerous because I had a small cut in my finger when doing it.
The results I’ve got demonstrate that the prototype I followed was good. This project was important because I learnt how to follow a model and recreate a successful movie theater in a creative and simple way. I’ve learnt that you can always add new ideas to models that are already created, personalized them. And that there are always ways to keep improving. I’ve also learnt that you can project anything beside videos, like a Zoom class.
I could try to make a bigger projector by using bigger materials in general (boxes, magnifying glasses). I would have decorated the box. In the second model we changed the way it was supposed to be placed the smartphone.
From: https://www.weareteachers.com/4th-grade-science-experiments/ I did it mostly on my own but I also got help from my support teacher, my aunt and my mom.
This submission is truly strengthened by the depth of thought and explanation when describing the project. It's clear that the creator closely followed the design process through the research and development phase. What would be fascinating to see is how the different versions of the prototype changed the final results and what specific improvements led to a better projector.
