Second graders love to build things, and they love to learn how to make the things they build even better! They learned how engineering can help make anything, from a tower of cups to a giant skyscraper, more stable!
Before and after making a tower, they learned how to PLAN, DESIGN, and REFLECT following the next steps:
PLAN:
• Sketch and label your design ideas on a piece of paper.
• Decide what materials you will use.
(Suggested Materials: plastic cups, legos, blocks, cardboard, or any other material that you may have at home)
• Label your sketch with the materials that you will need.
DESIGN:
• Build your tower.
• Test your design.
- Is your tower stable?
- Make improvements if needed.
REFLECT:
• Think of a way to improve your design.
Great job second graders! Keep taking any challenge as an opportunity to design and create!
