Over the past couple of weeks I have been working with an application called procreate. At first I just experimented with techniques until it was a little easier to use. This app has gotten me to draw a lot more and get better at it. A couple of weeks ago, in Language Arts we were working on argumentative writings and I wanted to draw about my topic: Do Kids Have Too Much Homework? So I decided to draw a picture of a kid staying up late at night, studying and doing homework.
I wanted to draw an image that contributed to my argumentative writing about students staying up too late to study and do homework. I wanted to tie in a fun and creative visual for the problem that I was writing about.
It took me several weeks to finish because of how little time I had to draw with my free time. At first, I sketched out a drawing of what I was going for, and then I started drawing. After many redoes and restarts, I finally was able to finish the drawing.
In the end, I think that the overall sketch was different from what I had pictured the final image to look like. But I realized how to improvise, have more patience, and even get better at drawing.
I think that the image turned out really well. It took a lot of time, different colors, different designs, and ideas. I will always work hard and harder to do things, such as drawing.
There definitely were some imperfection throughout the final design. It is also super cool that it was able to be tied in with my argument writing to project an image. I definitely would like to improve my drawing skills a lot more, work on time management, and to have more perseverance to get things done.
I used a few images that I found online to give me inspiration and help me see what I wanted to draw for this procreate. My family really supported me while I was making this, by giving me advice and nice feedback that made it a lot easier to finish. I also used some video on YouTube to help work on some techniques with the iPad and Apple Pencil when using Procreate. These really helped me form my ideas and help me finish the Procreate. I would not even be able to have done it without the above.
The drawing looks spectacular and obviously took a lot of work and dedication. We like that you regularly sought feedback from your family and sought out tutorials to make it better. The student sleeping looks like he is in quite an uncomfortable position, which probably adds to your argument for your Language Arts class. Using the light to put the emphasis on the student was a really nice touch. It would be nice to see some of the other iterations of drawings that you had to show your progression along the way. Maybe for future projects, you can try taking screen casts of your iPad and then speed them up in iMovie to create a time lapse video.
