Me and my partners wanted to investigate about the food chains in a rainforest and how energy flows through different organisms in that unique environment. We first needed more background knowledge on rainforest and how it has a major impact on wild animals and plants. After acquiring all of our information we decided to look up a specific rainforest and develop a food web from that rainforest. We chose the Amazon Rainforest because it is the largest rainforest in the world with approximately 10 million species of animals, plants, and insects. When developing our food web, we chose specific producers and consumers that has a connection of energy flow between each other due to their diets.
We wanted to demonstrate how energy flows from one organism to another with a food web. In order to demonstrate that flow of energy we had to choose an environment were it has a diversity of species. We thought that the rainforest will be perfect to make a food web since it carries a variety of different species of plants and animals.
The way we developed our project was through a food web. A food web is a graphical representation of natural interconnections of food chains. It was a perfect way to demonstrate our main idea on how energy flows through different organisms in a specific environment.
We found out that some species have more than one source of energy income than others. We developed our food web from producers to consumers to represent a specific connection between the organisms. As a result, we found out that many of the primary and secondary consumers have a variety of diets and predators.
Our result was a food web from specific species in the Amazon Rainforest. Our conclusion was that the producers creates the fundamental pillar of the food web structure that provides the energy for the rest of the ecosystem. The consumers depend on each other to create a balance of energy flow that keeps everyone and everything to maintain order and balance in the ecosystem.
Since our food web is a basic representation of the food chain in a specific location, we can extended by amplifying our choices of species and environment. A way we can improve our project is to add more factors in our food web, for example environmental degradation that affects the food chain dramatically. Since our planet is changing so do our animals behavior and role in nature, with this factors we can make a more complex and realistic representation of the food chain.
For our information we use reliable sources from prestige website like National Geographic and other geological experts. I want to give a huge acknowledgment to my favorite biology teacher Mrs. Barnett. She helped us get rid off all our doubts and made our journey more comfortable and simple.
This investigation into the Amazon Rainforest food web shows thorough introductory research into a complex network of plants and animals. You have shown foresight and careful organization in determining layers of categorization and associated inter-connectedness through a visual framework model that could guide further studies. It would be fascinating to know what research questions and investigation topics you would pursue when equipped with this organization information and classification.
