There will be lots of books to suit every pocket. The book fair will run during break, lunchtime and during the public library late opening on Thursday 27th March. If you've got someone in your family joining S1 in August, the fair is also running during P7 Information Evening on Tuesday 25th March. Use the Book Fair Wish List sheet to note any books you'd like and take the form home. Payments will be taken using the secure parent payment system at www.bookfairs.scholastic.co.uk/pay or via the QR code on the sheet. Reading Schools - Bronze
Your school needs you! We are embarking on a new venture to attain a Reading Schools award. There are three levels - bronze, silver and gold. In January we're looking for reading ambassadors to help develop a whole school reading culture and earn our first award. Speak to Dr. Millar or Mrs Mackintosh for more info.
Why should we read?
Benefits to reading for pleasure include:
• Helps with reading attainment and writing ability
• Grows our breadth of vocabulary
• Encourages positive reading attitudes
• Improves our general knowledge
• Gives us a better understanding of other cultures

How many seconds are there in a year? Hint: 365.25 days to account for leap years
60 seconds in an hour - 60 x 60 = 3,600 seconds in an hour
24 hours in a day - 24 x 3,600 = 86,400 seconds in a day
365.25 days in a year - 365.25 x 86,400 = 31,557,600 seconds in a year.
