Reading Challenge

Forget Couch to 5k, we've set up a new challenge to get your brain BookFit. This four week program will gradually build your reading stamina, so by the end you can read for 20 minutes a day.

"But whyyyyyy" I hear you cry. Why should you want to read for 20 minutes a day? There are a few reasons:

  1. Reading can help you feel more relaxed and less stressed.

Yes, it's actually been proven that reading something you enjoy is a perfect way to relax, and helps to ease tension in your muscles and heart. It doesn't even matter what you read, so long as you are reading something you enjoy!

  1. Reading makes you smarter, and improves your writing skills.

It's probably not too surprising to hear that reading is good for your brain. It increases blood flow and improves connectivity. Reading also introduces you to new ideas and encourages you to problem solve. You absorb writing techniques and vocabulary when you read. All of these combine to make your writing skills top notch.

  1. Reading helps you understand the world, and your place in it.

Reading things written by people who have different experiences to you helps to develop empathy and understanding. Being more open minded makes you more capable of interacting with different people you will meet throughout your life. You can also figure out what you believe in and what you feel strongly about through reading.

  1. The more books you read as a young person, the higher your earning potential as an adult will be.

Not only are you going to be a well read, kind, understanding person who writes KILLER essays for school, you will also earn more money as you get older.
