Ryota Sakamoto

Ryota Sakamoto is an experimental biophysicist interested in biological self-organization and the engineering of life-like systems. He joined Academia Sinica in 2025 after completing postdoctoral training at Yale University in the US, where he focused on the biological assembly of the purified actin cytoskeleton in artificial cells. His research bridges physics and cell biology, building on his Ph.D. in Physics from Kyushu University in Japan, where he investigated the non-equilibrium physics of cytoskeletal self-organization. In his lab, he is dedicated to fostering critical thinking and a scientific approach to problem-solving—skills that are essential for success in both academia and industry.

Arash Abedijaberi

Arash Abedijaberi is a postdoctoral researcher interested in the physical principles that govern the behavior of complex biological and material systems. Before joining Academia Sinica, he spent more than a decade in the United States working in both industry and academia, developing computational and experimental approaches for problems in materials science, semiconductor and superconductor manufacturing, optical fiber technology, biopharmaceutical processing, and multiphysics systems. His current research focuses on active matter and cell mechanics, investigating how cells sense and respond to their physical environment through the interplay between cell shape, cytoskeletal organization, and force generation. Drawing on experience across multiple scientific disciplines, he is particularly interested in uncovering the fundamental mechanisms that drive self-organization and emergent behavior in living systems.

Devi Taufiq Nurrohman is a postdoctoral researcher whose work bridges biophysics, optics, and microfluidics. He received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from Jenderal Soedirman University and Universitas Gadjah Mada, Indonesia, respectively, and his Ph.D. from National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan. His current research explores active matter and the fundamental principles underlying self-organization in biological and biomimetic systems through the integration of theory and experiments.
