My painting of Craig
I was very fortunate to be raised by two fellow animal lovers. My parents met through showing Appaloosas, and the horse bug bit me before I could even walk! This was heavily reflected in my after-school art bench projects in the garage. I loved to draw and paint just as much as I loved being around horses.
My personal work revolved around portraits of musicians and celebrities throughout college, where I finally decided to pursue two undergraduate degrees and receive some formal training in figural artwork. Being away from home, I returned to my roots and incorporated horses back into my creative routine. During this time, I was lucky enough to work with incredible mentors, some of which gave me opportunities to travel the world with my art.
After graduate school, commission work began to take over as I more frequently posted time lapses of my paintings. Additionally, returning to the horse world brought the perfect target audience to my social media. As a result, my commission work primarily consists of people's horses, however, dogs and cows recently made it into rotation.
The most fulfilling part about painting for me is capturing the essence and heart in each animal's face. I stress the importance of including several quality photos and details about each animal because I want to 1. ensure each client feels deeply involved in my process, and 2. get an accurate feel for every subject so that I can honor them appropriately!
It is an honor to be trusted with your four-legged soul mates, and I take each project very seriously during each phase of its creation. I look forward to working with each client!
