Please scroll through this FAQ guide to learn how to use your Rippling platform. This guide has everything that you need to know to ensure that your are accurately clocking your time.
Artist should ensure that they clock in and out for 6 hours, as Rippling will not round your hours up. You must reach out to Charles or Preethi to inform them of any clock-in/clock out errors and they can help fix them.
Staff will receive payment for asynchronous PD on October 18th, 2024. Payment for all other hours (including Saturday In-person training) will be disbursed according to the following pay schedule.

Background Check Instructions: Prince George’s County Public Schools - 4 Steps
STEP ONE: Online application through the PGCPS Volunteer Management System
Complete the online volunteer application. This must be done annually.
STEP TWO: Undergo a fingerprint check and Child Protective Services (CPS) clearance
Click here to schedule your fingerprinting - PGCPS asks that this be completed at least 15 business days in advance of volunteer activity. Results must be received prior to engaging in volunteer activity. As such, please schedule your appointment as soon as possible.
The total fee for these clearances is $62.25 per applicant. As stated above, Arts for Learning will reimburse you for the cost of these clearances.
STEP THREE: Fill Out & Submit the 365 Day Form
Please fill out the 365 Day Form and email it to pops@artsforlearningmd.org as soon as you complete your background check. They will give you a 12-digit reference number that you need to include on this form before you email it back to us. It should be on your fingerprinting receipt and may be listed as a “tracking number”
STEP FOUR: SafeSchools Training Certification(s)
Complete the required online SafeSchools training course(s) each school year - prior to engaging in volunteer activity. Click here to access the training
Staff can access pay stubs and W-2 information via Rippling. If you still need access to your Rippling account, please reach out to POPS@artsforlearningmd.org.
Leave: Remember that the only time off category available to EIR staff is Sick and Safe Time. There are no vacation days available to EIR staff. This time needs to be reflected on your Timesheet in Rippling as well (see video to learn how!).
To review under what circumstances you are eligible to use your sick and safe leave please read below:
Time Off:
Grant and special-funded staff, hired for short-term assignments, internships, and as temporary project-based staff, are not eligible to accrue PTO, however Sick and Safe leave is available to these employees. Sick and Safe Leave is accrued at a rate of one hour for every thirty hours worked, and begins accruing on day one of employment. Employees may use the leave in increments of 1 hour or greater. Employees will be paid at their current regular rate for each accrued Sick and Safe Leave hour used.
Safe and Sick Leave can be used for the following purposes:
To care for or treat the employee’s mental or physical illness, injury, or condition;
To obtain preventative medical care for the employee or the employee’s family member;
To care for a family member* with a mental or physical illness, injury, or condition;
For maternity or paternity leave; or
Due to domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking committed against the employee or the employee’s family member and the leave is being used: (i) to obtain medical or mental health attention; (ii) to obtain services from a victim services organization; (iii) for legal services or proceedings; or (iv) because the employee has temporarily relocated as a result of the domestic violence, sexual assault, or stalking.
*Please note, a “family member” includes a spouse, child, parent, grandparent, grandchild, sibling, or legal guardian.
Safe and Sick Leave should not be used for the following purposes:
Personal vacations or trips;
Completing work remotely;
Make up for tardiness unrelated to sickness;
Other situations not included in the previous section.
Staff members will not be paid out for sick leave time that they don’t use. EIR HQ staff reserve the right to request to see documentation upon suspicion of leave abuse and after a staff member has used up all of the allotted Sick and Safe time for their respective position.
Employees who have questions about Sick and Safe Leave, including (i) their eligibility for Sick and Safe Leave; (ii) when Sick and Safe Leave may be used; and (iii) the amount of available Sick and Safe Leave should promptly contact the People Operations Department (pops@artsforlearningmd.org)
