Smart Phone Apps
The Youper app is available for both Apple and Android phones and is FREE. This app has several sections that address anxiety in the areas of dating, making new friends and public speaking among others. It is based on Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), a very effective treatment for anxiety disorders of all types.
The What's Up mental health app is also available for both phone platforms and is FREE. It combines aspects of CBT with another type of therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, also highly effective with anxiety disorders.
Finally, the Mindshift app has been shown to be highly effective in helping people with anxiety. It works to help teens and young adults cope with stress and anxiety by facing it, rather than avoiding it and offers strategies to manage worry, panic, conflict, ordinary anxiety, and three specialised categories of anxiety: test anxiety, social anxiety, and perfectionism. Also contains relaxation exercises.
