MAC Open Studios offers caregivers and friends the opportunity to admire students' artwork and engage with the artists. Open studios take place at the end of class on the last day of each session. Detailed information on the open studios will be emailed out in the days leading up to the event.
In preparation for Open Studios, you and your TA should hang student work throughout the session. If you need anything other than push pins for installation, please email saic-youth@saic.edu. Family and friends will arrive at 2:00 P.M. Continuing Studies staff and program assistants will be stationed in the 280 lobby to welcome and direct them.
Once guests arrive in your classroom, invite them to view the work on display. We encourage you to prepare short remarks for faculty, TAs, or students to deliver. Students can act as gallery guides, showing their work and discussing their process.
Caregiver evaluations will be in a packet along with the student evaluations. Pick them up from 280-117. Administer the student evaluations during class and the caregiver evaluations during the Open Studio. Return all forms to the packet and drop them off in 280-117.
At the end of class: Collect any unclaimed student work, wrap it in brown paper, and bring it to the Continuing Studies office, 280-117, accompanied by a CS Art Check half-sheet in your class evaluation packet. We will use it to identify the student artist(s) and contact their caregivers. We will hold onto the artwork for five business days.

Reminders:
Students must stay with their class's installation, whether it's in the classroom or elsewhere, until their guests arrive and meet them there. The ECPSI staff will greet guests in the lobbies of Sharp and 280 and direct them to the class installations.
Please encourage guests to walk around with their students to see the work created by all the other ECPSI students! This will include the short walk to the 2nd building location. We want to ensure everyone's work is viewed and appreciated by all our guests.
We encourage you to label all student artwork. Labels are included in evaluation packets. If you have any questions, please contact our Operations Assistants or programming team.
Adult Continuing Education and the Early College Program do not put on open studios or exhibitions.
