Future Swap

This is a useful function when you are enrolled in a class but you want to swap that class if another class you are waitlisted opens up. To set up a future swap, the two classes, the one you will waitlist and the one you will enroll in as a back up, must be at the same date and time. 

You must set up the Future Swap at the time of your initial enrollment. If you set it up after adding to the waitlist, you will go to the back of the waitlist. 

If you enroll in a backup course at the same time as a waitlisted course, the enrolled "back up" course will block your potential enrollment unless a Future Swap is set up.

How to Set Up a Future Swap

Add the back up class to your shopping cart and enroll.  See Self Service Step by Step for more detailed instructions on enrolling.

For this Example, HUMANITY 3110 Masterworks: Emily DIckinson on Fridays from 8:30AM - 11:15AM will be the back up class. 

Go back to your shopping cart and enroll in HUMANITY 3110 Masterworks: Emily DIckinson

Next, add the class you want to waitlist for in your shopping cart. 

For this Example, HUMANITY 3252 Selected Musical Topics: Music in Modern CInema on Fridays from 8:30AM - 11:15AM will be the waitlisted class. 

This time, because the class is waitlisted, you must select "Wait list if class is full" on the top right and then "Next"

Back in your shopping cart, select "swap" in the top bar. Select the term and continue.

On the next page, you select the backup class from your schedule and use "Select from Shopping Cart" to select the waitlisted class. Select.

Confirm you have selected the correct classes and "Finish Swapping"

If a seat opens and you are first on the waitlist, the system is now set up to automatically drop the back up class, HUMANITY 3110, and enroll in the waitlisted class, HUMANITY 3252. The future swap has been succsessfully set up. 

If a future swap had not been set up but HUMANITY 3110 was on your schedule and HUMANITY 3252 waitlisted, and you were next on the waitlist, if a seat opened, the waitlist for HUMANITY 3252 would skip enrolling you as you are already enrolled in a course at that same time. 

If you are waitlisted for a course with no conflicting class at the same time, you will be automatically enrolled.*
