Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Yankton Arthur Academy. It is a privilege to serve as principal and to be part of a school community dedicated to helping every child succeed.
My journey at Arthur Academy began in 2020, and I have had the opportunity to serve our students in a variety of roles, including 3rd-grade teacher, 1st-grade teacher, small-group instructor, and Intervention Specialist. I earned my Master of Education from the University of Southern California (USC), and I am passionate about applying research-based instructional practices to support student success. These experiences have allowed me to work closely with students at different stages of their educational journey while developing a deep appreciation for the dedication of our staff, the support of our families, and the incredible potential within every child who walks through our doors.
At Yankton Arthur Academy, we are committed to providing a strong academic foundation through Direct Instruction (DI), the proven teaching model on which our schools were founded. We believe every student can achieve success when provided with high-quality instruction, clear expectations, and a supportive learning environment. In addition to a rigorous academic program, students participate in Art, Physical Education, and Social-Emotional Learning, helping them develop into confident, capable, and well-rounded individuals.
What I value most about YAA is our strong sense of community. Our teachers are passionate about helping students succeed, and our families are valued partners in the educational process. Together, we create a school environment where students feel safe, respected, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
As principal, my commitment is to ensure that every decision we make is guided by what is best for students. I strive to foster a positive school culture where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally while developing the confidence, character, and lifelong love of learning that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
I look forward to partnering with our students, families, staff, and the Yankton community throughout the school year. Thank you for your continued support of Yankton Arthur Academy. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or to learn more about our school.
With gratitude and appreciation,
Alyssa Granum
