Welcome to David Douglas Arthur Academy!
My name is Richelle Owen and I am excited to introduce myself as the principal at David Douglas Arthur Academy. I have worked at DDAA for over the past 18+ years as a teacher and administrator, but I consider my most important job to be that of a child advocate. I will spend a lot of time with your children, getting to know their personalities, learning styles, and interests. I am committed to doing all I can to make every student at our school know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.
Our teachers are dedicated to their students at DDAA. They provide our students a positive atmosphere full of encouragement and success. Our school is student centered and every single decision we make is based on what is best for them.
Instruction at all Arthur Academy schools is delivered through Direct Instruction. This instructional model is called Mastery Learning. We teach our students to mastery in the core academic subjects of reading, language, math and spelling.
All kindergarten students will learn to read and do fundamental math.
All students will accelerate their learning.
Students that have struggled will catch up.
High achieving students will continue to excel.
These are commitments we can make because of our academic model and the rigor of our curriculum.
There are numerous opportunities to volunteer at Arthur Academy. Whether we need help in the lunchroom, the playground or making copies, volunteers are always needed. Our school has a very active parent organization which supports our students and staff throughout the year. This organization provides an avenue for parents with varying skills and abilities to make a difference in our school.
I look forward to working with our students’ families and friends throughout the school year. Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions about our school.
Thank you for your support,
Ms. Owen
