Slant Scanner ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Emily Rogers. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information.
Information We Collect
Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed (encrypted) version of your password. We never store your password in plain text.
Scan history: When you analyze a title, we store the title, media type, and analysis result linked to your account so you can access your history.
Subscription status: We store your subscription tier (Free, Scout, or Analyst) to enforce usage limits and unlock features.
Usage data: We track the number of scans you perform each month to enforce tier limits. We do not collect device identifiers, location data, or behavioral analytics.
How We Use Your Information
To provide the core features of the app (scanning, history, read list, watchlist)
To enforce monthly scan limits based on your subscription tier
To send transactional emails (password reset only — we do not send marketing email)
To process and verify in-app subscription purchases through Apple's App Store
Third-Party Services
Anthropic — AI analysis is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Titles you scan are sent to Anthropic for processing. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to that data.
Apple / RevenueCat — Subscription purchases are handled by Apple's App Store and RevenueCat. We do not store payment information.
Amazon Associates — The "Buy on Amazon" feature uses an affiliate link (tag: emilyrogers0f-20). Clicking it takes you to Amazon's website. Amazon's privacy policy applies.
Resend — Password reset emails are sent via Resend. Your email address is transmitted to Resend for this purpose only.
Railway — Our backend runs on Railway's cloud infrastructure. Data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway.
Data Retention
We retain your account data and scan history for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data by emailing us at the address below.
Children's Privacy
Slant Scanner is designed for use by parents and families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us. To delete your account, email us and we will remove all associated data within 30 days.
