Distribute to Students

Ropes Course 121.MOV

Once you have adjusted your own fitness template for your school you will need to distribute it out your students. There are a few methods to do this each with their own advantages and disadvantages.

Share the Link:

  • Share the document link-only, then change the very last part of the url from /edit?usp=sharing to /copy.
  • This will make a link that forces the end-user to make a copy. You can then email that link or display a shortened url to it on a screen.
  • Students will need to also share that copy with their teacher.
  • It is important that when students need to update that they go to the copy they made and not the link you originally sent them.
  • The downfall of this method is that you are relying on each student to make a copy and share it with you manually.

Share via Google Classroom:

  • You can create an assignment in google classroom and specify each student get their own version.
  • The trick here is that they do not hand-in the plan, like they would any other classroom assignment. Instead the teacher can post a new assignment each time they want the student to make an edit to the original play. The new assignments should not link to the plan at all, but using the instructions box tell students to open the original one they created, and when done, they can go back into classroom and mark the new assignment as done.

Share via Doctopus sheet add-on:

  • Doctopus is a google sheet add-on, that can distribute a copy of a document to each students.
  • It works similar to classroom in that it can automate both the distribution and sharing of the document, without the need of using Google classroom.
