Two Types of Work in Stage Crew
Technical Crew
Tech Crew works every week of the school year, except during dress rehearsals and performances. Jobs in this area include:
building / construction of set pieces
painting
lights set up
sound set up
making props
organization and cleanup of the shop
Production Crew
Production Crew works during tech rehearsals, dress rehearsals, and the performances. Positions in this area include:
Stage Manager
Assistant Stage Managers
Light Board Operator
Sound Board Operator
Spot Light Operators
Running Crew
Stage Crew kids create the atmosphere of each and every production. Throughout the year, Crew kids work on projects of many kinds. There's always a job to be done, whether it be painting, building, cleaning, organizing, hanging lights, hooking up microphones, and running the performances.
Stage Crew is a unique experience. Constructing a stage-wide set from an empty stage, then seeing actors perform on the finished masterpiece is a feeling like no other. Hearing from happy audience members after a show about how great it looked or sounded makes us feel proud of our job because we helped do that.
This club doesn't feel like a club; it's more of a family. With long nights of working together, Stage Crew kids have the opportunity and make close friends outside of their "circle."
