Advice about specific courses will vary according to the interests and achievement level of students, but our experience shows that most students should select the following for their schedule over four years:
16 credits of English (required)
2 credits of health (in ninth grade)
2 credits of physical education (in tenth grade)
16 credits of social studies (12 are required)
16 credits of mathematics (8 credits are required for ARHS, though most 4-year colleges require math every year)
16 credits of laboratory science (8 credits are required for ARHS, though most 4-year colleges require 12)
8 to 16 credits of one world language (world language is not required for ARHS, but most colleges require 8 credits of the same language beyond eighth grade)
